So an igniter that clicks on its own in Beach Bluff or Phillips Beach is a known pattern. In Cliftondale or Golden Hills, the same symptom has different causes.

Clicking on damp days

Igniter clicking randomly when not cooking, often worse on foggy or stormy days, usually comes from moisture in a spark switch behind one of the knobs. The switch completes the circuit without being turned, and the spark module fires.

Drying the cooktop area and leaving the knobs untouched sometimes stops it for a while, but the lasting cure is a new switch or harness. Unplugging the cooktop, where the plug is reachable in a cabinet, stops the noise safely until we arrive. We identify which knob's switch is at fault before replacing anything.

Stainless and cast iron

Stainless cooktop frames near the seawall can show brown tea-staining from salt. It is surface discolouration and cleans off with a stainless cleaner, and it does not affect how the cooktop works.

Cast iron grates rusting is the same kind of problem. It is cosmetic unless the coating has flaked into the burners.

Inland Saugus

On the Saugus side the common faults are wear and use: uneven heat distribution from a blocked port, an igniter coated with spills, or a radiant element switch failing. Nothing corrosive reaches them.

Swampscott houses sit above the road on outside stairs and some have no driveway, but a cooktop comes out from the top of the counter, so we carry what is needed up the steps. Saugus has driveways and generous parking.
