DCS is Fisher & Paykel's professional cooking line, built around commercial-style burners, heavy grates and cast parts designed to be maintained. A large share of it is installed outdoors, in grill islands and side burners, as well as in indoor kitchens.

DCS Cooktop · Greater Boston
DCS Cooktop repair across Greater Boston
On the coast around Winthrop, Nahant, Marblehead and Cape Ann, salt air and winter weather attack the electrical connections of outdoor units in a way an indoor cooktop never sees. That shapes almost every DCS call we take there. Indoors, DCS cooktops behave like the heavy professional surfaces they are, with igniters and ports as the usual wear points.
Spring recommissioning
A cooktop left through a Massachusetts winter often has knobs that will not turn or turn stiffly, because the valve stems have seized with disuse and moisture. Forcing them risks breaking the valve.
The technician frees or replaces the valve with the supply isolated, then leak-tests before relighting. Burners and venturis are also checked for nests and debris after a season unused.
Corroded igniters and electrodes
Salt air eats at igniter wiring and electrode terminals, so sparks become weak, track to the grate or stop altogether. Replacing the corroded parts and protecting the connections restores reliable lighting.
Indoors, the same electrodes foul with grease and spills instead, producing similar clicking without ignition.
Uneven flames on heavy burners
DCS burners run at high output, so partly obstructed ports show as a flame that is uneven rather than absent. Cleaning to the manufacturer's method solves most of it.
Anything that involves the gas line, a regulator or a valve is for the technician, whether the cooktop is indoors or out. Keeping a cover on an outdoor unit, and the grates and burners dry between uses, reduces the damage a coastal winter does.
Questions
FAQ — DCS Cooktop repair
Can't see yours? Just ask us.
My outdoor DCS knobs will not turn after winter. Can I force them?
Please do not. A seized valve stem can break, and the gas side needs a technician with the supply shut off.
Why does my coastal DCS igniter keep failing?
Salt air corrodes its connections. Replacing the parts and protecting the wiring makes it last longer.
Should I have my outdoor cooktop checked before summer?
It is sensible after a winter out of use, especially on the coast. Venturis, igniters and valves are all worth inspecting. Booking before the first warm weekend avoids the busiest weeks of the season.
