Induction generator faults

A generator board powers one or two zones. When it fails, those zones go dead or flash a code while the rest of the surface works, and cookware detection may stop on the affected side.

Before condemning the board, the technician checks the cooling fan, the air intake in the cabinet below and the supply voltage, since overheating and a weak supply produce codes that look like a board failure.

Switches and elements on radiant models

Electrolux radiant cooktops use surface element switches that wear with years of use. A zone that stays on full, drops out or heats unevenly is metered at the switch before anything else is touched.

Because these parts are shared with the Frigidaire side, they are usually easy to obtain and rarely hold up a repair.

Making the repair decision

If the generator board for an older model is discontinued, we say so at diagnosis, before you pay for anything beyond the visit. If it is available, one price is agreed and held.
