Infinite switches on the smooth-tops

A Frigidaire radiant zone that heats only on its highest setting, cycles erratically or stays faintly warm when off usually has a worn infinite switch. It is a mechanical part, simple to test and fit.

The element itself is checked while the surface is open, because a dark burn spot or a crack in the coil under the glass sometimes accompanies a switch that has been overheating it.

Relay faults by trim line

On electronically controlled Frigidaire surfaces, power is switched through relays on a board that differs between trims. A zone stuck on or stuck off is a board-level question, and ordering against the badge alone brings the wrong board with some regularity.

The technician reads the full model number, checks the relay path, and names the part before quoting.
