Manufacturers we service
Smeg is known for its styling, but its cooktops are conventional European engineering underneath: sealed gas burners with spark ignition and individually replaceable burner, electrode and valve components. The cosmetic finish is part of what you paid for, so handling matters.

Smeg Cooktop · Greater Boston
Smeg Cooktop repair across Greater Boston
Parts arrive through a smaller import channel. Across Greater Boston we confirm availability during diagnosis instead of assuming a same-visit finish. Retro-styled freestanding ranges and built-in hobs both turn up in the city's renovated kitchens, and the burner hardware is similar across them.
Clicking that will not stop
A Smeg electrode sits close to the burner so the spark can jump to it. When residue coats the tip, or the knob's switch is damp after cleaning, the sparking continues after the flame is established.
Letting a freshly cleaned cooktop dry fully often ends it. If the clicking continues, the technician cleans or replaces the electrode and tests the switch. A cracked ceramic insulator on the electrode also causes weak or misdirected sparking.
Uneven flame from blocked ports
Partly obstructed ports make the flame patchy around the ring or tall on one side. Cleaning the burner heads and caps, dried fully and seated correctly, is a safe owner step on a cold cooktop.
If flames stay uneven or run yellow, the burner and valve are checked. Gas valve and safety-valve faults are repaired by the technician and leak-tested afterwards.
Looking after the finish
Coloured and enamelled Smeg cooktops scratch and chip easily. We protect surfaces when working and handle knobs and trims with care.
Lead times for less common parts are quoted at diagnosis, alongside the price. Manufacturer-specified parts are our default on Smeg, which matters where trim and colour must match.
Questions
FAQ — Smeg Cooktop repair
Can't see yours? Just ask us.
Why does my Smeg cooktop keep clicking with the burner lit?
Usually a fouled electrode or a switch that is damp after cleaning. Let it dry fully; if it persists, book a visit. Avoid pouring liquid near the knobs when cleaning.
Are Smeg parts slow to arrive?
Common wear parts are usually available. Less common ones can take longer, and we tell you before you commit.
Can you repair my Smeg without damaging its finish?
Yes. Surfaces are protected throughout, and trims are removed and refitted with care. Protective covers go on before any panel comes off.
