The shore side brings two risks that inland kitchens never face: salt on the controls and, occasionally, seawater around the base of the cabinet.

After the water comes in

If flood water has reached a range, do not use it. Water in a gas valve, a pressure regulator or a spark module, or on the wiring block of an electric range, is a safety matter even after the floor has dried. Isolate the supply if you can do so safely and leave the rest to us.

We assess which components were submerged, test insulation on the electrical side and check gas controls before advising repair or replacement. Some ranges recover with new parts; some do not, and we say which.

Salt on the shore blocks

Beach Bluff and Phillips Beach kitchens show corroded spark switches, burners clicking without lighting, and knobs and bezels discoloured where salt and heat meet. Electric models there develop poor contacts at plug-in elements, and electric range burner not heating is common on coil tops.

Wiping the cooktop dry after cleaning slows it down; replacing a corroded terminal block is a technician's job.

Saugus and the outside stair

Inland Saugus is ordinary work: bulkheads, driveways, thirty-inch ranges with conventional parts. Swampscott's houses above the road need a plan if a range must come down an outside stair, and we bring the equipment for it rather than improvising.
