The Maytag name on a range reveals less than you might expect. Since Whirlpool absorbed the company, Maytag cooking equipment has been built on the same platform as its sister brands, so the switch, sensor or element behind the panel is one we can source readily.

Maytag Range repair across Greater Boston
The exception is the older range built before that merger. Those machines were well made and plenty still cook every day, but a component may since have been discontinued, so on an older Maytag we confirm the part can be had before recommending the repair rather than after ordering it.
Elements that warm but never get hot
An electric Maytag where every element warms a little and none gets properly hot is not suffering four simultaneous failures. A range of this kind draws on two supply legs, and when one is lost at the breaker, the cord or the terminal block, the whole appliance limps along on half its voltage. A scorched cord or receptacle is a frequent cause and must be dealt with before anyone cooks on the range again.
Switching the double breaker fully off and back on is a safe owner check. If the range stays weak, leave the terminal block and the wall receptacle to a technician.
Surface switch failures
A single element stuck at full, or one that will not come on at any setting, points to the infinite switch behind that knob. The switch cycles power on and off to hold a setting, its contacts wear with use, and a pitted contact eventually welds or stops conducting. It is a small, inexpensive part, reached by lifting the backguard rather than moving the range.
Coil tops add a second possibility, a scorched receptacle under the element, which is checked at the same time.
The oven: igniter and sensor
On gas Maytag ovens, ignition that grows slower week by week is the classic sign of an ageing igniter, and on electric models a bake element opening at its rear terminal is the usual reason for a cold cavity. Either way we test the part before replacing it.
The diagnosis also tells you whether the fault lies in the heat source or in the sensor that feeds the control, which are priced very differently.
Questions
FAQ — Maytag Range repair
Can't see yours? Just ask us.
How do I know if my Maytag range predates the merger?
The model and serial numbers on the rating plate reveal its age. Reading them out when you book lets us check parts before the visit rather than during it.
Can I still get parts for an old Maytag range?
Mechanical parts such as elements, switches and igniters often remain available or cross-reference to current stock. Proprietary electronics are harder, and if a board cannot be obtained we say so during diagnosis rather than leave you waiting.
Is a scorched range receptacle dangerous?
It can be. Scorching means a connection has been overheating, so stop using the range, turn off its breaker and have the cord and receptacle replaced before cooking again.
