Thermador's signature is the five-pointed star burner, which spreads flame across more of the pan base than a round ring. The shape has a diagnostic consequence: with ports along every arm, a partial blockage produces a patchy, lopsided flame rather than a burner that refuses to light.

Thermador Range repair across Greater Boston
Thermador shares a corporate family with Bosch and Gaggenau, and its documentation and parts travel the same channel. The professional ranges, though, use Thermador's own burners and oven components, so we source to the model instead of assuming a Bosch part fits.
Reading an uneven star
A star burner burning strongly on three arms and weakly on two tells us far more than a dead one. Boil-over or cleaning residue in the weak arms' ports is the usual explanation, and clearing them restores an even pattern. Where the ports are clean and ignition is sluggish, the spark electrode may be cracked, dirty or out of position.
It is tempting to blame low gas pressure, but a supply fault affects every burner at once. One misbehaving star points to that burner alone.
A Thermador range that keeps clicking
A Thermador that keeps sparking after the burner has lit, or sparks at every burner together, usually has moisture in the ignition system or a faulty spark module. Let a wet cooktop dry completely and try again.
If the clicking persists, the module and electrodes need testing, and anything beneath the burner cap is work for a technician.
Heavy doors, drifting ovens
Thermador professional ovens carry heavy doors, and their hinge springs wear. A door that no longer shuts snugly bleeds heat from the cavity and invites the wrong conclusion about the thermostat. Sensor drift is the other common cause of temperature complaints and is confirmed by resistance measurement.
On electric-top models, worn surface switches complete the usual list.
Questions
FAQ — Thermador Range repair
Can't see yours? Just ask us.
Can I clean the star burner ports myself?
Yes, gently and with the burner cold: lift the cap, brush debris from the ports with a soft brush and dry everything before reassembling. Never enlarge ports or remove the burner base.
Does a Thermador range have to come out for service?
Most range work happens with the unit in place. When it must come forward, we plan around the worktop and the gas connection, which is leak-tested on reinstallation.
Are Thermador parts the same as Bosch parts?
Some electronics and service procedures overlap, since both are BSH brands. The professional burners and oven components are Thermador's own.
