DCS is Fisher & Paykel's professional cooking line: high-output burners, heavy grates and an infrared broiler in the oven, built from parts meant to be replaced as they wear. The igniters, the burner ports and the ceramic broiler elements account for most of the service work.

DCS Range repair across Greater Boston
Many DCS owners also run the brand's outdoor equipment, and near the water, in Nahant, Marblehead and around Cape Ann, salt carried on the air works its way into electrical connections. Indoor ranges in seaside houses see a milder version of the same thing.
An infrared broiler that will not glow
The DCS broiler uses ceramic infrared elements that should glow evenly across their face. Patchy glow, a cracked tile, or a broiler that lights and then goes out points to the element or its ignition and safety parts. Ceramic elements are brittle, so a cracked one is replaced rather than repaired.
Do not keep trying to light a broiler that has failed repeatedly; switch it off and let a technician check the gas train.
Corrosion on coastal ignition
On equipment exposed to sea air, spark electrodes and their wiring corrode, and ignition becomes hesitant or fails altogether. Cleaning contacts buys time; replacing corroded electrodes and connectors fixes it.
We check every ignition point on the range, not just the one that has stopped, because corrosion rarely confines itself to a single burner.
After a season off
Outdoor DCS cooking equipment that sat unused through a Massachusetts winter can come back with stiff or seized valve stems and debris or insect nests in burner tubes and ports. Forcing a stiff knob can damage the valve, so have it inspected, freed properly and leak-checked before the first cookout.
Indoors, the oven side follows the familiar pattern of thermostat or sensor drift, plus element faults on electric cavities.
Questions
FAQ — DCS Range repair
Can't see yours? Just ask us.
Why does my DCS burner flame look uneven?
Obstructed ports are the usual cause. Cleaning the cap and burner head when cold often helps; persistent unevenness needs a technician.
Can salt air really affect an indoor range?
Near the shore it can, gradually, especially at exposed electrical connections in the ignition system. It shows as ignition that grows less reliable over time.
Is it safe to use my outdoor DCS if a knob feels stiff?
Do not force it. A stiff valve stem should be inspected before use, since forcing it can damage the valve.
