Joinery and period counters

Lifting a cooktop out of period joinery needs care: some are held from below with clips that can only be reached by removing a drawer or panel. We plan that before the visit rather than improvising.

Glass lifting or separating from the frame is common where the counter underneath is uneven or has moved with the old house. We check the counter, not just the glass.

Hoods and historic review

Both towns require a certificate for exterior changes visible from a public way. If your cooktop's hood needs a new outside vent, that has to go through review first.

Where there is no outside vent, grease and heat stay in the kitchen, and the cooktop's knobs and controls get sticky faster. We clean what we can and tell you what the kitchen needs. A recirculating hood with fresh filters is often the practical answer in a listed house.
