Salt on the shoreline

Salt residue from the harbour settles on touch-control glass as a faint film that conducts moisture. Touch controls unresponsive or self-activating on a Wollaston or Houghs Neck cooktop can come from that film, so clean the control area with a damp cloth, dry it fully and try again.

If the controls still misbehave, the board or its ribbon cable may have corroded. We open the cooktop and check before quoting.

Twenty-four inch cooktops use different burners, grates and elements from thirty-inch ones, and they are often ordered in rather than held on the van. With the model number at booking we can check stock and avoid a second trip.
