Level first, electronics second

Our diagnosis starts with a spirit level on the oven rack and a look at the door gap along its top edge. An uneven gap, a gasket scorched on one side, or cabinet edges darkened by heat all point to a fit problem rather than a failed sensor.

The correction can involve pulling the range forward, freeing it from the cabinet sides and resetting the levelling feet. We then retest the temperature with our own probe to confirm the cavity now holds its set point.

Houses on the bikeway

The Minuteman Bikeway runs through both towns on the old railbed, and houses backing onto it have no vehicle access at the rear. A range that needs to come out for a repair goes through the front door, so we measure the route before the visit.
