The model number, not the badge

Ordering a Frigidaire control against the name on the door produces the wrong part more often than owners expect. We read the rating plate, usually on the frame behind the storage drawer or beside the door opening, before any board is ordered.

It is a small step that prevents a second visit and a returned part. On a Gallery or Professional model, a board ordered against the wrong trim can look right in the box and simply fail to communicate with the fascia once fitted.

Bake and broil elements

Element failure is the commonest heating fault on these ovens. A bake element that has blistered or split usually shows visible damage, whereas a broil element can fail without any mark.

Either way the meter confirms it before anything is replaced, and the job is normally finished in one visit when the part is on the van. Where the bake element has failed dramatically, with a flash or a bang, we also check the relay that fed it, because a heavy short can damage the contacts upstream.

Stuck surface settings

Electric Frigidaire ranges govern each radiant zone with an infinite switch. As its contacts wear, the zone sticks at full power or refuses to climb above low.

That fault belongs to one knob and has nothing to do with the oven, so only the switch involved is tested and replaced. If a zone will not turn off at all, switch the range off at the breaker until it has been looked at.
