Thermador's star-shaped burner is the detail that sets its stoves apart. Instead of a ring, the flame follows five points, spreading heat over a wider footprint and relying on every port along each arm being clear.

Thermador Stove repair across Greater Boston
Because of that shape, partial blockage produces patchy flame rather than no flame at all. Owners often assume a supply problem; in practice the burner itself is responsible, and it is usually put right in a single visit.
Reading an uneven Thermador star burner flame
Look at the flame with the knob on medium. Gaps along one arm, flames lifting off certain ports or a yellow tip on one side point to debris, a warped cap or spill residue in the ports.
Cleaning a cold burner head with a soft brush is reasonable for an owner. Probing ports with wire, removing the burner base or touching the valve is where the job passes to the technician.
Thermador spark modules and electrodes
Thermador cooktops use electronic ignition with automatic reignition on many models, so a burner that blows out tries to relight itself. A fouled or cracked electrode can therefore produce constant clicking even while a flame appears present.
The module, the electrode and its lead are tested as a chain. A wet electrode after cleaning is the common, harmless cause; a cracked ceramic is the common, permanent one.
The BSH connection
Thermador sits in the same group as Bosch and Gaggenau and borrows engineering approaches from both, yet its professional ranges carry burner and oven components of their own. So Bosch parts are never assumed to fit, and documentation comes through the shared BSH channel.
Gas valve and safety valve faults are isolated and leak-tested at every joint once the repair is done. Heavy oven doors on the same ranges also get a hinge spring check, since tired springs let heat escape below.
Questions
FAQ — Thermador Stove repair
Can't see yours? Just ask us.
Why does my Thermador burner click even though it's lit?
Reignition is designed to spark when the system thinks the flame has gone. A dirty, wet or cracked electrode can fool it, and the electrode is usually the part replaced.
Is a patchy star burner flame a gas leak?
Usually not; it is normally blocked ports. If you smell gas, however, turn the knobs off, leave the room and ring the gas utility from outside.
Do Bosch parts fit Thermador?
Some engineering is shared, but Thermador's pro ranges fit burner and oven parts unique to them. We match everything to the Thermador model number.
