A Viking microwave installed close to a high-output range works in a hotter, greasier environment than most. Cooling vents clogged with airborne grease can make the unit overheat and shut itself off mid-cycle.

Keeping the vents and any grease filter clean is a sensible habit. If thermal cut-outs keep tripping after cleaning, the cooling fan motor deserves testing.
