Most LG microwave faults sort themselves into two groups within minutes of the cover coming off. Either the cavity lights up and turns without warming anything, which points at the high-voltage components, or nothing happens at all, which usually traces back to the door.

LG's habit of giving each cooking function its own control electronics carries into its over-range and combination units, where the fan, light and cooking circuits can misbehave independently. A working vent fan beside a silent magnetron is a normal LG fault pattern, not a contradiction.
Run the LG microwave app test while you book
Many recent LG appliances can play an audible diagnostic sequence into the manufacturer's smartphone app. If your microwave supports it, running that while you are on the call with our dispatcher gives our technician a head start on which part to bring.
It does not replace a hands-on test, but it can save a return trip for parts. Our dispatcher will also confirm a three-hour arrival window, and same-day visits are often possible when the diary allows.
The no-heat branch
When an LG unit runs cold, the suspects are the magnetron, the high-voltage diode, the capacitor and, where fitted, the inverter board that feeds the magnetron. Each gets tested in turn after the capacitor has been safely discharged.
Intermittent heating belongs on this branch too. A magnetron beginning to fail, or a thermal cut-off tripping early because the cooling fan has slowed, can both produce food that is hot one day and lukewarm the next.
Relays and touch keys
LG control boards switch the magnetron circuit, light and fan through relays, and a relay whose contacts have welded shut can leave the fan running or the lamp lit after the door closes. That is a board-level fault with a specific cause, not a mystery.
Keypads that respond in some zones and ignore others usually point at the membrane or its connector rather than the board behind it. We test the membrane on its own before recommending any board.
Questions
FAQ — LG Microwave repair
Can't see yours? Just ask us.
Why does my LG microwave keep the light or fan on by itself?
A stuck relay on the control board or a door switch that no longer releases properly are the usual causes. Switch it off at the socket or breaker until it has been looked at, since a relay fault can keep circuits live.
Do I need the model number when I call?
It helps a great deal. The label is usually inside the door frame or on the back, and with it we can check parts availability for your exact LG unit before the visit.
What does an LG microwave repair cost?
Nothing is quoted until our technician has diagnosed the unit and named the failed part. The diagnostic fee is credited against the work if you go ahead, and the price agreed beforehand is the price you pay.
