Manufacturers we service
Insignia is a retailer's house brand, made under contract by outside manufacturers. Its microwaves use conventional high-voltage and control designs, but the platform behind any given model varies, so the model number decides which parts apply.

Insignia Microwave repair across Greater Boston
Parts and warranty support run through the retailer rather than a manufacturer's service network. If your unit is still under warranty, that route will normally be quicker, and we point you to it rather than charging for work you should not be paying for.
Most likely faults
Door interlock switches account for more Insignia failures than anything else, just as on other microwaves. Next come faults in the high-voltage diode and capacitor, then magnetrons that heat on and off before failing entirely.
Touch panels and membrane switches can also stop registering presses, often key by key. Each fault is isolated with a meter after the capacitor is safely discharged.
Keeping costs proportionate
These are inexpensive appliances, so the point where repair stops making sense arrives quickly. Our technician names the failed part and tells you honestly whether fixing it is worth your money.
A switch or a diode usually is. A magnetron in a basic countertop model frequently is not. Either way, the diagnostic fee is credited if you decide to go ahead.
Apartment-sized use
Insignia's compact and secondary appliances suit apartment kitchens and shared flats, where a small microwave often gets heavy daily use. Heavy use wears door latches and switches faster.
A latch that needs slamming, or a unit that starts only on the second try, is an early warning. Booking before it fails completely keeps the repair simple.
Questions
FAQ — Insignia Microwave repair
Can't see yours? Just ask us.
My Insignia is under warranty. Should I call you?
Check with the retailer first, since in-warranty support runs through its channel and is normally the faster route. We are happy to help once the warranty has expired.
Why does my Insignia heat intermittently?
A magnetron nearing the end of its life, a failing diode or an overheating cut-off can all cause it. Testing identifies which.
Can I replace the fuse myself?
We advise against it. The fuse sits beside high-voltage parts that can hold a lethal charge, and a blown fuse usually signals another fault such as a failed interlock switch.
