Samsung builds its microwaves the way it builds the rest of its kitchen range: touch glass on the front, and the electronics divided between a main board, a display board and, on some models, an inverter board. That division matters, because a blank screen and a cavity that will not heat can live on different boards entirely.

Samsung Microwave · Greater Boston
Samsung Microwave repair across Greater Boston
Across Greater Boston most of the Samsung units we open are mounted over the range, often in narrow kitchens where the microwave is also the only extractor. So a visit covers the fan, the filters and the damper as well as the cooking side.
Switches before circuit boards
Our technician starts at the door, not the display. Samsung's interlock switches must each report a closed door before the controls will commit to a cooking cycle, and a worn switch or a bent latch hook produces a unit that beeps, accepts a time and then refuses to start.
Owners frequently assume that means a failed control board and a replacement bill to match. A switch test takes minutes with the door panel off, and the switches are inexpensive, so this is the branch we clear before any board is suspected.
Reading the boards in service mode
Samsung expects a technician to drive diagnostics from the keypad, using a service test routine that exercises outputs and reports errors rather than asking for resistance readings off a chart. We use that routine to decide which assembly has actually failed.
Touch panels on these units tend to lose a row or a cluster of keys rather than going completely dark, which points at the display assembly or its ribbon cable. Treating that as a main-board fault would mean paying for the wrong part.
When it runs but will not heat
A turntable that spins and a light that glows while the food stays cold places the fault in the high-voltage section: magnetron, diode, capacitor or, on inverter models, the inverter board that replaces the traditional transformer. That capacitor can hold a lethal charge long after the plug is pulled.
For that reason nobody should open the outer case at home. Our technician discharges the capacitor first, then tests each component and names the failed one before any price is put to you.
Questions
FAQ — Samsung Microwave repair
Can't see yours? Just ask us.
My Samsung over-range microwave fan keeps running after I switch it off. Is that a fault?
Often it is not. Many over-range models start the vent fan automatically when they sense heat rising from the hob below, and it stops once that area has cooled. If it runs for hours with the hob cold, a thermal sensor or a board relay is worth testing.
Can I check anything myself before booking?
Yes, a few safe checks help. Confirm the breaker has not tripped, open and close the door firmly a few times, and look at whether the grease filters underneath are clogged. Leave the case closed; the internals are not a home job.
Is a Samsung microwave worth repairing?
Over-range and built-in units usually are, because replacement means new mounting and often new trim. A countertop unit with a failed magnetron may not justify the spend, and we will say so plainly once the part is identified.
