The supply also genuinely changed recently: the new Tri-Town regional plant, built to strip PFAS, was approved by MassDEP and began blending into the existing supply in July 2026, so the chemistry here is newer than the reports describing it and we treat pre-2026 assumptions about taste, colour and deposit with caution. What is also specifically true of Braintree & Randolph is that two towns sharing one reservoir, one treatment plant and a condominium-heavy housing stock, and the water they share is neither the soft reservoir supply of the inner core nor the hard groundwater of the county's western half, which is why the advice here sits deliberately between the two.
