Dryer repair in Peabody
Our local recurring finding: a stud wall with foil hose inside, crushed or sagging, packed with lint and invisible.
Why we measure first
Replacing a heating element on a dryer that's starved of air just means replacing it again. We measure airflow at the machine and at the outlet. A large difference between the two tells us where the restriction is, even when it's behind drywall.
If the hidden section is the problem, we show you the reading and discuss access. Where it can be reached, the foil goes and rigid duct replaces it.
Getting the dryer out
Many finished laundry rooms have a door narrower than the dryer that was installed before the walls went up. Panelling, trim or a door casing may need to come off to move the machine. We work out what's needed at the quote, not halfway through the job.
Once the dryer is out, we can reach the transition hose, the back panel and the blower housing. Lint that got past the screen and clogged the blower wheel is a common second find.
When it's the supply, not the dryer
An electric dryer that tumbles but never heats may be receiving only half its supply. Sometimes that's a tripped breaker leg or a loose terminal in the dryer's own block, and sometimes it's on the utility side.
Peabody Municipal Light Plant, not a regional utility, supplies electricity here. If our tests show the problem is upstream of your panel, that's a call to the city, and we'll tell you so.
Most Peabody houses in the western subdivisions, and plenty around Peabody Square, had their basements finished after the washer and dryer went in. The laundry corner got walls and a door, and the duct got hidden. Somewhere in that framing, a section of flexible foil hose often took the place of rigid pipe.

Questions
FAQ — Dryer repair in Peabody
Can't see yours? Just ask us.
Why does my dryer tumble but not heat?
On an electric dryer, a partial supply is a common cause, as are a failed element or thermal fuse. We test the supply first and name the failed component.
Do I need to open my basement wall?
Only if the airflow reading shows the hidden duct is the problem. We explain the options before anything is opened.
Our laundry room door is narrower than the dryer. How do you get it out?
We decide at the quote what trim or casing has to come off, and put it back afterwards.
