Across the region many dryers sit in basements with a long sideways exhaust run bored through old masonry or a party wall, ending well away from the machine. Lint settles in every horizontal metre of that path, and the airflow drops gradually over years rather than all at once.

Before we touch a heater or thermal fuse on a Samsung, we check the transition hose behind the cabinet, the lint path and the far end of the duct. A new element fitted into the same restriction simply burns out again.

Sensor bars and softener film

Samsung dryers judge dryness through two metal strips inside the drum that read moisture as the clothes brush against them. Fabric softener and dryer sheets leave a waxy coating on those strips, and the dryer then decides a damp load is finished.

Clothes coming out warm but still damp at the seams is the classic sign. Wiping the bars with a little rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth is a safe first step and often ends the complaint.

Samsung steam dryers and their water connection

Samsung dryers with a steam function carry a small inlet valve and a water connection, which a vented-only machine does not have. Where the supply is hard, that valve can scale and either stop the steam cycle or seep.

A dryer that will not start at all points somewhere else entirely, typically the door switch or the thermal fuse, both of which are tested in place with a meter.
