Start with the phone in your hand

LG builds an audible diagnostic into most current refrigerators: hold the phone near the control as the app instructs and the fridge plays a tone sequence that the app decodes. Doing that while booking gives the technician a head start before the van leaves.

It is not a diagnosis on its own, though. The tones report what the control has noticed, and a coil packed with ice or a fan with a dragging bearing can be the real story behind a temperature warning.

Three suspects, not one

When the sealed system genuinely is in question, the linear compressor is driven by a dedicated inverter board that is itself commanded by the main board. Any of the three can leave the compressor silent, and they tend to be blamed on each other.
