A Samsung front-loader that stops with a full drum and a 5E or SE on the panel is describing a symptom, not naming a broken part. The machine has decided the water did not leave in the time it expected, and it will not attempt a spin with that weight still inside.

Samsung Washer repair across Greater Boston
That decision is correct behaviour. Our job is to find out why the water stayed, which on this platform is far more often a sock in the pump housing than anything electrical.
Why the drain comes before the drive
Samsung puts the motor electronics on a dedicated inverter board, separate from the main control and the display assembly. A technician who hears 'no spin' and heads straight for that board is working backwards, because the drain path is cheaper to check and fails far more often.
We open the access flap at the lower front, clear the coin trap, and watch the pump run in the machine's own service test mode. If it moves water freely there, only then does the drive side get attention.
When the board really is the problem
A genuine inverter fault usually shows as a drum that will not turn at all, even empty, while the pump and inlet valves behave normally. Because the three circuit boards are sold separately, the diagnosis has to prove which one has failed rather than replacing all of them.
The door lock is the other frequent culprit. If the lock assembly never reports itself closed, the washer refuses to start, and the panel can look as if the controls have died.
Basements, freezes and the drain hose
Plenty of Samsung washers across Greater Boston live in the cold cellar of a triple-decker or two-family house. A hard January night can freeze a drain hose or the supply line before the machine itself notices, and the first cycle afterwards throws a fill or drain code that looks alarming.
Let the space warm up before running another load. If the code clears once the hoses thaw, nothing inside the washer needs replacing.
Questions
FAQ — Samsung Washer repair
Can't see yours? Just ask us.
My Samsung shows 5E. Do I need a new pump?
Usually not. That code means the water was slow to leave, and a blocked filter, a kinked hose or a drain hose pushed too deep into the standpipe all trigger it before a pump fails. We check those first and name the actual cause before quoting.
The drum turns by hand but not on its own. Is the motor gone?
It may be the inverter board rather than the motor windings, and the service test mode lets us separate the two. That distinction matters, because the parts differ considerably in cost.
Is it worth repairing a Samsung washer?
A drain, lock or valve repair almost always is. Where a board or motor is at fault we give you one agreed price up front so you can weigh it against replacement before any work starts.
