Condensation drying on a Scandinavian machine

Asko dries by condensation on the stainless tub, like other European platforms. Plastics stay damp and plates come out cool, and neither is a fault.

Calls about a failed drying element are common, and the answer is that the machine has none; rinse aid and loading are where improvement lies.

When an Asko leaks, the door gasket and the seals around the sump and pumps are examined in turn, since those are the parts that age while the stainless structure does not. A leak sensor in the base will stop the machine if water collects there.

Setting hardness for the supply

Asko includes a hardness setting that is often left at its default. On the soft reservoir supply serving much of Greater Boston, that can mean more softener work than the water requires.

In outer towns on private wells the setting may need raising, and white film on glassware is often the clue. The technician matches the setting during the visit.

Dispensers, pumps and parts supply

A detergent tablet left in the dispenser at the end of a cycle points at the dispenser mechanism or at a tall item blocking the lid. Circulation and drain pumps are separate, and each is tested individually.

Separate pumps also simplify noise complaints. A rattle only while draining belongs to the drain pump, while a hum during washing belongs to circulation, and the technician listens to each stage in turn.
